A Daayan (Chudail, Witch) or just a co-incidence?

A Personal Encounter by Anonymous (Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh)

I had joined a job in NIIT Jaipur (Rajasthan) at Raja Park Center but i was living in the guest house of my elder brother who was working in SPCL and very often i left alone in the guest house. That area was near jagatpura a bit outer area but not in solitude it was well developed.

The biggest problem in jaipur was of drinking water i use to fill up two bottles of water from my office at the evening and when I used to go to have my dinner in a nearby restaurant named TADKA and used to fill another bottle of water enough for the night.

It was a summer night and i was alone in my guest house. I went to the restaurant for dinner and when i was returning I had to cross a small bridge over a naala (a sewer). When I was crossing I sensed someone had came out from the slope. I didn’t react and continued to walk.

Suddenly a sound saying de de (Hindi terminology for ‘give give’ – a style typical to the beggars) comes from my back when i turned i see an old lady with white hair right over her face so her face was not visible asking for something. I threw 2 rupees coin at her but she threw it away and this irritates me then I literally abused her and continue to walk but she started following me, sweeping her feet across the ground, making a rustling noise. I started walking with more pace but then I realized that she kept up with me irrespective of my speed.

When I reached my guest house I locked the door and saw through the window she was making some marks on ground. Now I really felt uneasy and without wasting any more time, I came out with a motive to beat her but she had disappeared. I still wonder who she was…

    1. Did he say what kind of trouble? Did he mention anything similar that had happened in the past ... or maybe some information about the ghost - was she in a tragedy or something?

  16. I don't get these stories. If she really is a 'Daayaan' she would not waste her time asking you for anything. She would have enough power to take what ever she wants.

Also she would not follow you home, she would stop you dead on your tracks.

And what is this logic that she would have injured you, if you had given her water. If her intention is to hurt you she would have done so irrespective of your action.

She going to the trouble of stopping you, asking for water, following you home and writing something on the ground seems like a waste of time.

A Daayaan or a Ghost need not go through all this trouble.

  17. Yes it was a witch and lyk the sardarji said you wud av gone in big trouble and I mean danger of death. There are so many powerful daayans and churel where I came from and they are still out there. When the witch ask you something in ur case was the water if you said yes she wud av eaten you and if you said no she wud eat a younger person from ur family. In these situation you dont sai anything just ignore them but they will follow so to avoid that, piss in a round circle and stay in it. They wont be able to enter the circle. Also dont talk bout them on Tuesdays and Sundays they can hear you if you speak about them. They will only ask something if they see you have any food or water. They are weak in the afternoon at 1500 hours. If similiar incident happen than be brave and act as if you are fully drunk. They tend to leave the drunk guys dunno why or you can always create a circle. No god can protect you as they are more power than most of the gods. If you have a cross or your hanumaan chalisa or a photo of your god , trust me it wont work. They are very powerful at night between 3 and 4 so do not try to take them on with your martial arts and they are very fast so they will catch up speed if u run.
